Smart-phones and sports go hand and hand, sure you can settle a ton of disputes with your phone’s browser but using the right applications can allow you to get the most out of your pocket stuffer. Keep in mind I am looking from an iOS point of view on my iPhone 4, your Android results may vary, and Blackberry results may not exist whatsoever.

UEFA Champions League: Plugging the Holes

Today will be the final match in the UEFA Champions League. Bayern Munich will play host to Chelsea in a match that many believe will miss the likes of a number of players who are suspended based on accumalative yellow cards. These suspensions may in fact determine the result of the match. Chelsea will be missing midfielders Ramires and Raul Meireles, and defenders Branislav Ivanovic, and John Terry. The home side will be missing Luiz Gustavo, and defenders David Alaba, and Holger Badstuber.

Brock Lesnar: There Goes The Pain

For those of you who missed it two weeks ago Lesnar’s manager/mouthpiece Paul Heyman returned to the Raw to announce his client Brock Lesnar had quit the WWE.  To summarize; Brock Lesnar came back, attacked John Cena a handful of times, lost to him on pay per view, attacked HHH from behind and then quit. Heyman claiming of course this was because of a breech of contract.

If you don’t know who Ryan “the Real Deal” Ford is yet; you will soon enough because he served notice at Bellator 67.  Following his second round knockout of Luis “Sapo” Santos, who entered the cage with an impressive 50-7 record, Ryan is quickly imposing himself on the already cumbersome conversation of up and coming Canadian welterweights.

The End of the Road for Akihiro Gono [video]

Akihiro Gono fights back tears after announcing his retirement from MMA

Mixed Martial Arts is one of those sports that, though I have only recently become an active fan of, I carry a tremendous amount of respect for any man who fights for living.  Last night at Bellator 67 at Casino Rama I witnessed an ex-con from Alberta become a star, a man who just two years ago beat cancer refuse to give up when it seemed all hope was lost, but it was a Japanese legend and pioneer of the sport who stole the show as made an emotional farewell to the world of MMA.
